The aim of the project was to update the existing limited version of the intranet using Liferay technology, including the implementation of several information gadgets.

In the first phase of the project, several analytical meetings were held at the client’s site to gather requirements and expectations for the implementation of the new intranet, including a change in its design. The structure of the pages, their layout, setting of access permissions by departments and district directorates were also defined.

During the implementation, some standard Liferay portlets were made available and, if necessary, adapted to the customer’s requirements. During the implementation we faced some problems resulting mainly from the use of the unlicensed version of Liferay 6.0, for example NTLM authentication. At the same time, we also encountered some other things that Liferay was declared to be able to do, yet had to be reprogrammed.

Within the widgets area, we delivered some useful applications that helped users work more efficiently – for example, implementing a tool for signing PDF documents, converting different file types to PDF, phonebook, officer outreach, and more. Training and handover of all documentation for the solution was done before deploying it into regular operation.
